Hyatt And Singhaiyi Open Hyatt Regency Villa Resort Maldives
In a recent event on September 26, global hospitality giant Hyatt Hotels Corp announced a partnership with Singapore-based property developer SingHaiyi to launch the Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives, an all-villa resort.
“We chose Hyatt for their well-established reputation and leadership in the hospitality industry,” says Gallant Tang, executive director of SingHaiyi. “We are thrilled to work with Hyatt to create a resort that embodies the core elements of the Hyatt Regency brand that guests value.”

Mohamed Luveiz, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to Singapore, also shares his excitement for this new addition to the island’s portfolio. “Maldives’ infrastructure is rapidly expanding, starting with the Valena International Airport,” he says in a speech at the signing ceremony. “With the new runway already in use, a recently-opened terminal, and upcoming developments for domestic airports, we hope to enhance connectivity across the Maldives and open new doors for travelers.”

Located just 25 minutes away from the Valena International Airport in the capital of Malé, the upcoming Hyatt Regency resort will feature 130 villas spread across 10 hectares of land. The villas, including beachfront, treetop, and overwater options, will each feature a private pool. The property is expected to open its doors in 2027.

This new resort marks the flagship Hyatt Regency property in the Maldives and the third Hyatt property in the island nation. With the addition of Hyatt Regency Samarafushi, the Hyatt Regency brand will now have a total of 80 properties across Asia Pacific, including popular destinations such as Bali, Phuket, and Sydney.
For SingHaiyi, this will be their second property in the Maldives, following the success of their first venture, the Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives, a 120-villa resort.
