Global asset management and operations company, Keppel, has recently been awarded the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) highest green accolade for their latest data centre in Singapore, Keppel DC Singapore 8. This six-storey data centre, located at 82 Genting Lane, spans approximately 100,882 sq ft and is equipped with advanced systems and designs for reducing water consumption and improving energy efficiency.

The data centre, which is set to be completed in phases, will be ready for service in the third quarter of 2024. It will be operated and managed by Keppel’s Connectivity Division and is already fully leased to clients from the cloud services, internet enterprise, and telecommunication sectors.

Keppel DC Singapore 8 is the second of three planned complexes within the Keppel Data Centre campus, with the first complex, Keppel DC Singapore 7, also being awarded the BCA-Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) Green Mark (Platinum Award) in 2022. Overall, the campus has an impressive power usage effectiveness of approximately 1.3. The first two complexes were partially funded by capital from Keppel’s private fund, Alpha Data Centre Fund, managed by Keppel Fund Management. The site is held on a leasehold basis by Memphis 1, a joint venture between Keppel and Cuscaden Peak Investments, with a 60:40 stake.

In related news, Keppel recently opened its first senior living facility in Asia and has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mitsui Fudosan to develop data centres in Japan and Southeast Asia. After the successful completion of 19 Nassim, Keppel has also launched furnished units for sale.
